Mikel Dimmick Spiral Joy Band: Wake of the Dying Sun King

Formed in 2001 by Pelt's Mikel Dimmick and Mike Gangloff, Spiral Joy Band's second full-length is a much more percussive outing than '05's "Lullabies for Jeff Dean." Mostly recorded in a Virginia church, these slow-building pieces were created from instruments and materials like Tibetan bowls, struck metal, gongs, fiddle and sruti box.
